Welcome again to Capri. I promised last time to tell you some stories about the island. Capri has the very long story. In ancient times it used to be an Etruscan island, later it was under Greek domination. Then it was part of the Roman Empire. Emperors Augustus, Tyberius and Caligola used to live here. They built here magnificent villas the ruins of which can be still visited.
In some caves of the island, some temples devoted to nymphs have been established by them. In the Middle Ages Capri was dominated by the Amalfi Republic.
I see that you get bored… So, I shut up and start sightseeing.
You will find here places that are visiting by millions of tourists each year
but some places are still waiting for being discovered.
Going slowly…, going lazy…, I wanted to make some friends.
But this one was not very talkative.
Capri was a favourite place on the Earth not only for Roman Emperors.
Many powerful people found here their home.
Among them, there were some crowned heads (Swedish queen Victoria or Italian princess of mysterious name Mafalda).
Fashion designer Valentino has here his summer house. Many writers found here a silent place ideal for their work.
Also Lenin gathered here his revolutionary ideas being hosted by Maxim Gorki.
Walking down these streets and thinking about all these writers I felt like I was in some mythical fabulous labyrinth.
And I had a strange metaphysical feeling that also I am looking for something here… but what can it be…
Suddenly I found the answer…
Capri is like a beautiful dream. But wait! if I don’t run now, I’ll miss the last ferry.
Even running you can found strange things from Capri.
Now from the ferry, you can see how Capri is disappearing.
You are approaching the Amalfi coast.
The colourful pictures and memories remain with you forever.
And, at home, as a consolation… PIZZA!
XoXo, Metody the Bear 😉
